Working with Law Enforcement
Our approach to working with police and other authorities.
Some online problems need real-world help. We work with law enforcement to keep members safe while respecting privacy and due process.
When We Reach Out First
If we see a clear threat to life or a child in danger, we contact local police even without a request. We share only what is needed to act on the threat.
When They Reach Out First
Police can request data through our law enforcement portal. They must show valid legal process. Our team reviews each request and pushes back on overbroad ones.
Member Notice
We tell affected members when we can. Some legal orders include gag rules that block us from telling. We track gag orders and tell members as soon as the gag ends.
Quick tips
- •Call your local emergency number if you fear for your safety.
- •Use the report button for online threats.
- •Save messages and screenshots before blocking a user.
- •Reach out to legal for complex situations.
